In 2019, Pastor Darrell Williams, his wife Donna and their children met with Cranston Bass, Marlana Burch, Tia Teasley, Deidre Woods and Chelsea Covington at a music school in Apex NC. The entire group prayed and discussed their hope that God would use them as the foundations of a ministry that demonstrated the uncommon love of Jesus Christ.
Due to the global Covid19 pandemic, all gatherings including churches were closed to protect public health as many were dying or severely sickened from a novel strain of the coronavirus. Ascend Worship Church launched in September 2020 as an online Sunday morning Bible study taught by Pastor Williams. People gathered virtually to build their faith in God through hearing the Word and received prayer every week.
Ascend Worship Church began assembling in-person for worship in June 2021 in a shared location in Raleigh, NC. Pastor Williams continued teaching from the Word of God as the church entered a second year of studying the book of Hebrews to build a firm faith in Jesus.
Pastor Williams declared by faith that 2023 would be a “Winning Season” for the Ascend Church family. Testimonies of God’s blessings came with souls being added to the Church. In March 2023, the church signed the lease of their own location for worship in Cary, NC.
As the church grew, the ministry leadership and members made a bold faith move in 2024 to begin having Sunday services at Crossroads Theater to facilitate a renewed dedication to fill empty seats in heaven with those who have been baptized into hope in Jesus Christ!
